ASDA is proud to take the lead on making locally sourced and produced goods available in every one of our stores.
90% of the meat and fresh produce we sell comes from British farmers and we have 500 local producers supplying ASDA with over 5000 local products.
We are the only supermarket in the UK to use a national network of local ‘hubs' which connect small suppliers to a regional distribution network allowing them to get their goods into ASDA stores. This is better for the environment as it reduces ‘food miles', boosts local businesses and means customers can access local produce.
61% of our ASDA local suppliers employ less than 20 people. In addition, we give free adverts in our ASDA magazine for local suppliers which has a readership of nearly four million people.
We also ask all our customers and colleagues to suggest local products to us so that we can consider selling them in-store. Local to us means locally produced and recognised as local by our customers.
