We are proud of our diverse workforce and the fact that we are Britain's biggest private sector employer of over 50s. We have no mandatory retirement age and no ceiling age for recruitment. We are the first supermarket in the UK to introduce an ethnic uniform option to embrace the cultural diversity of our colleagues.

Pay and Benefits.
Over 93,000 of our 160,000 colleagues have a stake in the business through our share ownership scheme and our colleague turnover rate is the best in the UK industry. All colleagues working in our stores and depots with more than six months' service receive an annual performance related bonus. We have abolished our ‘under 18' pay rate to offer equal rates to all colleagues doing the same job. We are the only supermarket in the UK to do this.
