What has changed from the previous proposal?

ASDA undertook extensive public consultation for the original proposal. We’ve been hugely encouraged by the amount of support for the store, but have also listened and responded to the feedback that we received with this re-designed scheme. The main changes within the new proposal are:

• The store and car park have swapped positions, so that the car park is closer to the town centre. This will make it quicker and easier for people to visit both the ASDA store and Gorseinon High Street in the same shopping trip.
• The store now faces the direction of the town centre, further encouraging linked trips to both the store and the High Street.
• Pedestrian links between the site and the High Street have been significantly enhanced, with attractive and practical public realm features now being incorporated at the south-west corner of the site (close to Cecil Road).
• The service yard (delivery area) will be much further away from residential properties.
